Evelyn Sue Leslie, 85, of Frankfort and life-long resident of Clinton County, passed away Sunday, September 3, 2023, at Clinton House in Frankfort. She was born January 13, 1938, in Mulberry, IN to William Elbert and Nellie Evelyn (Wilson) Swihart. She married Howard J. Leslie on October 8, 1955, in Frankfort; he preceded her in death on February 22, 2006.
Evelyn graduated in 1955 from Frankfort High School. She had worked as a childcare provider for many years. Evelyn also worked at P.R. Mallory, Unielectric, Essex Wire, and for the Frankfort Community Schools in the cafeteria. She faithfully attended New Life in Christ Ministries where she enjoyed being a part of the Virtuous Women and the Vessels of Honor Christian women’s meetings. She loved to read but really enjoyed singing Gospel and Christian songs with her niece, Sandra. Most of all, Evelyn loved her family, friends, and especially her grandchildren.
Evelyn is survived by her son, Kyle (Robin) Leslie, grandchildren, Amy (Matt) Sisco, Jamie Kei Evans, Dustin (Kati) Leslie, Jimmy Ken Leslie, Jesse (Courtney) Leslie, and Joshua Leslie; great grandchildren, Abigail Evelyn Colby, Wyatt Colby, Kai ea Morton, Kamalani Morton, Kahakuloa Morton, Nellie Leslie, Hattie Leslie, Charlize Leslie, Addison Leslie, Katelyn Bray, Jaden Colby, Levi Sisco and Savannah Sisco; and a niece, Sandra C. Catron.
In addition to her parents and husband, Evelyn is preceded in death by a son, Randy Leslie, and brothers, George C. Swihart and Dale E. Swihart.
Visitation will be on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 2 p.m. until the start of the funeral service at 4 p.m. at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Pastor Rob Wood will officiate. Online condolences may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
