As previously released, Home for the Night closed January 19. However, the board has determined that they are not giving up yet on this much needed resource in our community.
They have distributed six donation boxes within our community to help raise funds for the shelter. Our future plans are to open in November until February for the winter months, given we are able to raise the funding needed. They are a 501c3 and have a business bank account so all funds received will go directly into our business account. They have worked too hard to obtain our 501c3 status to let it go.
Every penny counts and we always appreciate any donations. Based on what they paid out in 2023, it would cost approximately $38,000 to have the shelter open during the coldest months of the year. They are also planning on utilizing United Way for Clinton County‘s volunteer hub as much as possible during those months so it could possibly take less money to operate, depending on how many are willing/able to volunteer their time.
