The Delphi Oracle Tennis Camp is set to begin on June 24 and extend through June 27 for elementary students and middle school students, including those preparing for freshman year.
High school tennis coaches Kyle Cross and Joe Manahan will act as the lead instructors of the camp as the current high school tennis players participate as assistant instructors for the camp. The camp will be held from June 24 through June 27 with a rain make-up date set for Friday, June 28.
The tennis camp will be sectioned into two sessions, including a session for Delphi Elementary students and a session for Delphi Middle School students and incoming high school freshman with differing times.
The first session will be held for the Delphi Elementary students entering third, fourth and fifth grade from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. during the span of the camp. The session is intended to focus on the basic fundamentals of tennis to build a strong foundation, including grips, ground stroke techniques, volleys and serves as well as scoring and playing games.
The second session will be held for the Delphi Middle School students and incoming high school freshmen entering sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth grade from 10:30 a.m. to noon. The session is intended to focus on basic and intermediate fundamentals, including gameplay.
Every participant is expected to supply their own racquet with junior sizes for the elementary students, appropriate athletic clothes, tennis shoes, hat, water bottles and sunscreen.
The cost per child for the camp is set at $30, and the fee is due before the camp starts on the first day. The payment may be made when the participant is dropped off at the tennis courts. Checks must be made out to Delphi Athletics with the memo “Tennis Camp.”
