Delphi Murder Suspect Richard Allen Requests Public Defender

In a hand written letter murder suspect Richard Allen has requested a Public Defender.

Richard Allen was arrested in Delphi,Indiana.
In a news conference on October 31, 2022 Superintendent of Indiana State Police confirmed that Allen had been arrested for the 2017 Murders of Abby Williams and Libby German.

The documents are still sealed and Allen has been moved twice since incarceration for his safety.

Allen is being held in a State facility and has already entered a not guilty plea. His trial date is in March 2023.

Allen gives reasons for his request for a public defender stating that he did not realize the cost of hiring an attorney, He states he lost his employment due to incarceration,and his wife Kathy has lost her employment due to safety reasons. Allen also states that his wife has had to move out of their home.

The letter filed in Carroll County Courts is being shared on WTHR 6,Fox 59, and beginning to surface on facebook.
