Delphi Canal Bridge Closes Due To Water Pipe Fracture

The City of Delphi announced that the Canal Bridge closure in the 900 Block of North Washington Street will continue as crews discovered additional damage during their initial closure over the weekend.

The Delphi Water Department repaired the 10-inch water main over the weekend at the Canal Bridge, but during excavation, the crews discovered that the 10-inch cast-iron pipe that was originally installed in 1962 had developed a fracture.

Due to the discovery, the bridge will remain closed until an inspection is performed to ensure the safety of the traveling public in the area.

The project is being overseen by Delphi Water Department, Delphi Police Department, Carroll County Highway Department, Carroll County Commissioners and Butler Fairman and Seufert.
