The City of Delphi has announced the official appointment of Steve Mullin as the new Chief of Police for the Delphi Police Department following the resignation of the former chief earlier this year.

Chief-Designate Mullin is expected to bring a wealth of experience, leadership and dedication to public service to the role. Mayor Kamron Yates expressed his confidence in the new appointment earlier this afternoon.

“After a thorough interview process and careful consideration, I am please to name Steve Mullin as the next Chief of Police,” Yates said. “With over 40 years’ experience, he has held the ranks of Chief of Police, Town Marshal, School Resource Officer and Chief Investigator. Beyond his professional achievements, Steve has shown a deep commitment to serving the community by volunteering on numerous committees and boards.”

Yates continued to express his gratitude for the highly qualified candidates who interviewed for the position as they dedicated their time and showcased their willingness to step to the forefront of the department if chosen. Mullin shared his appreciation for the appointment.

“I am deeply honored and humbled by the Mayor’s decision to appoint me as the next Chief of Police for the City of Delphi,” Mullin said. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the Mayor for this opportunity and for his time and commitment to selecting me for this important role.”

Mullin continued to express his appreciation for the selection amongst a group of highly-qualified and motivated candidates as well.

“I also want to acknowledge the exceptional group of candidates considered for this position. Their dedication, experience and passion for public service are a testament to the high standards of law enforcement, and I am honored to have been selected from such a distinguished group,” Mullin said. “Having served the community for over four decades, I have seen firsthand the incredible commitment and sacrifice of our officers. It is both a privilege and a responsibility to lead this team as we continue to protect and serve our residents. Together, we will build upon the department’s solid foundation, focusing on innovation, community partnerships and ensuring the safety and well-being of all.”

Mullin is set to begin his new role with the City of Delphi on March 3.
