Cosmos Coffee, located at 21 S. Center St. in Flora has announced that it will close its doors on Valentine’s Day, Feb. 14 due to unmet financial needs to continue the business in downtown Flora.
On Jan. 13, Cosmos Coffee released an important announcement for the community regarding its closure, stating that the community has been supportive and the team has continued to reach their goal of creating a warm and welcoming space for all community members, but financial strain and unique challenges of running a business in a small town have led to the decision to close.
With heavy hearts, we are announcing the closing of Cosmos Coffee. When we, through Flora First Christian Church, first considered purchasing the coffee shop, we were filled with hope and excitement. Our vision was to create a warm and welcoming space where everyone could enjoy delicious, high-quality coffee and food. While we believe we achieved that goal, we unfortunately were unable to meet our financial needs.
As many of you know, running a business in a small town comes with its own set of unique challenges. After much reflection, brainstorming, and many discussions, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our doors on February 14th, 2025.
We are incredibly grateful for our manager, staff, committee members, church congregation, and our wonderful customers. This decision has been a hard one, and we hope you understand how hard we’ve all worked to make Cosmos Coffee a meaningful part of our community.
If you have a gift card, please be sure to use it before February 10th, as we will not be able to accept them after that week. Should you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to us via private message on Facebook or Instagram.
Thank you for being a part of our journey. We will cherish the memories and the time we spent together.
