St. Matthew Church has announced the addition of “St. Matthew Preschool West” in the lower level of the Cornerstone Assembly of God church on the Mulberry Jefferson blacktop at 5641 W. Mulberry Jefferson Rd.
Construction on the new Preschool facility will start Monday, February 3 according to Anita Stewart with the United Way. $1,043,000 in funding has been secured for the project. Funding is channeled through United Way for Clinton County. The new facility should be ready to serve up to 76 children ages 6 months to Pre-kindergarten by June 2025. Applications will likely open sometime in May.
“St. Matthew Preschool West” will be open 5 days each week. Hours are likely to be 5:30AM to 6:00PM. The first level of the Cornerstone facility has five classrooms that will be utilized for the preschool. A playground presently exists but over $100,000 will likely be spent for a new playground able to serve the facility. It will take 12 employees to staff the new childcare center.
With the approval of the St. Matthew Preschool Board and St. Matthew Administrative Council, St. Matthew Preschool announced that with the financial support from United Way for Clinton County, the church will be opening an offsite preschool known as St. Matthew Preschool West.
Director of Children’s Ministries Mary Kay Baker released a statement regarding the opportunity.
I ask your prayers for St. Matthew Preschool staff and our ministry leaders involved in this exciting expansion. There is much work to be done, and at times, it can seem overwhelming. Still, I am reminded of what Paul said to the church of Ephesus while he was in prison, Ephesians 3:20-21, “20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” When we let go of what we know and can do ourselves and then put our faith in God, we realize that God can do far more than we can on our own; praise be to God!
