Hard to believe we are headed into a NEW YEAR! I hope everyone enjoyed their holidays and is ready for some new, exciting literature and programs.
As we roll into this new year, we are excited that programing will continue for children of all ages. Saturday Craft, is for children ages 4 years–6th grade. During this time Mrs. Chylene guides the children in making fun season/holiday related simple crafts. Tiny Tikes is for children ages 18 months–3 years with their responsible adult. This time is spent lap sitting while reading a book, singing songs and a simple finger craft. Little Learners is for children ages 3 years– Kindergarten. During this time children will listen to stories and interact with the readings, sing songs and make a basic craft, then enjoy a snack. School Age Special is for children in Kindergarten–6th grade and features STEM related projects for a fun way of learning outside of school. This year we will also try to hold a family movie night. Tiny Tikes and Little Learners will resume on the first two Thursday’s of each month. Tikes Tikes will be held from 10–10:30 a.m. and Little Learners will follow from 10:45–11:45 a.m. Miss Kortney has been having a blast reading stories and doing simple crafts with our youngest library patrons and hopes to see everyone (and more) on January 2 and 9 and February 6 and 13.
Mz. Liz will be holding School Age Special on January 21 and February 18 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. In January the book, Martin’s Big Words, will be the featured book, for the craft you will be creating some art using some of Martin’s words. February’s theme will be the circulatory system with a focus on the heart. Mz. Liz and her programs are full of fun but have limited space so please be sure to sign up ASAP so you do not miss out on the excitement.
Saturday Craft with Mrs. Chylene will be on January 11 and February 8 at 11 a.m. In January we will be making Watercolor Snowflakes and February will be a cute Heart Handprint Tree.

We will have a Valentine Glitter Art kit as our February Take-It Make-It kit, which you can sign up for online at www.myfcpl.org and pick up at the Mulberry Library beginning Monday, February 3. As always, these kits are free and contain all of the supplies you will need.
The Friends of the Mulberry Library will be sponsoring an adult Finger Knitting class on January 16 at 6 p.m. Participants will learn how to finger knit a blanket. No knitting experience is required. There is no charge to enroll in this class, but participants are required to purchase their own yarn. Euchre will be meeting twice a month for the winter months. We will be meeting January 4 and 18 and February 1 and 15, from 2–4 p.m. in our community room. In case of bad weather and the class is cancelled we will call and inform you of the cancellation.
Book Club will be reading The Women by Kristin Hannah for their January 16 meeting. They will not be meeting in February. This book can be found on our front counter. Thinking of joining the book club? Please stop into the library to see what they are reading and come to the next meeting and join the talk.
We are doing it again! We will have our blind date with a book or movie back for the month of February. These are books/movies we pick out, they are wrapped with a description of the book or movie on the front. These books will be on our round table. Stop in and go on a blind date with a book/movie.
Rossville Library:

The Friends of the Rossville Library annual winter book sale will be held in our meeting room beginning Friday, January 24–Saturday, February 1. The book sale is open during the Rossville Library’s open hours. Stock up on your personal supply of items in case you get snowed in this winter. Lots of fiction and nonfiction books, DVDs and audio books are available, for both children and adults. Items may be purchased for a cash donation.
In thinking about Valentine’s Day, we will be making No-Sew Heart Fleece Pillows on Thursday, February 6, 3:30–4:30 p.m., for ages 8–adult. Those attending will need to be able to cut fleece fabric and tie a lot of knots. This class is free and all supplies will be provided. Registration at myfcpl.org/calendar is required so we will have enough supplies. Join us for a fun time creating a simple, cute heart shape pillow for Valentine’s Day.
Our Puzzle Swap has been very popular this past year, but by having it only on one day, it was sometimes difficult for everyone that wanted to attend. This time we will be having it for two days. Friday, February 28, 1–5 p.m. and Saturday, March 1, 11a.m.–1 p.m. As always for every puzzle you bring in, you may trade for one that someone else has donated to the library’s Puzzle Swap. Please note, the library is not responsible for any missing pieces.
Ms. Kortney will be bringing us Tiny Tikes and Little Learners on Wednesday mornings, January 8 and 15 and February 5 and 12. Tiny Tikes is for those 18 months–age 3 and meets at 10–10:30 a.m., followed by Little Learners for age 3–Kindergarten, at 10:45–11:45 a.m.
Ms. Liz will be here on Thursday, January 16, from 4:30–5:30 p.m. discussing the book, Martin’s Big Words and doing a watercolor craft, creating some of Martin’s words. On February 13, you will be discussing the circulatory system with a focus on the heart as the craft.
