Just after 4 p.m. yesterday, Feb 16, the Perry Township Fire Department Box 2102 was dispatched for a possible structure fire in the town of Colfax. According to authorities, the Colfax Police Department arrived on the scene and reported heavy smoke and fire visible from the second floor of the structure.
The information prompted Engine 122 to be called to the scene, and when the firefighters arrived, they reported a heavy fire in the roof line of the front porch that was spreading to the second story of the home. Crews attempted to extinguish the fire, and all residents were confirmed to be vacated from the house during the primary and secondary searches.
While the firefighters fought the fire, units from surrounding agencies arrived on the scene to assist with the efforts and ventilation. The fire was marked under control around 30 minutes after dispatch, and no injuries were reporteed during the incident.
The fire was investigated by an investigator from the Frankfort Fire Department, and no further information will be released regarding the incident according to the Perry Township Fire Department.
