The City of Frankfort Street Department has announced its plans to prepare for milling and paving this week with E&B Paving with funds provided through the Community Crossings Matching Grant.
The department stated that milling is expected to begin on Magnolia Avenue and Morris Street on Tuesday, Aug. 20 with continued projects being prepared for later in the fall. Frankfort Street Superintendent Jason Forsythe encouraged the community to remain patient with street closures occurring during the milling and paving while avoiding the areas for the safety of the workers.
“I want to urge the community to be patient and to avoid the construction zones as much as possible,” Forsythe said. “We will be working on trimming trees and putting out no parking signs on Monday.”
Forsythe stated that street parking will not be permitted in the area during the milling and paving, resulting in cars being towed if they are not moved from the street side prior to the beginning of the projects.
Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets and Forsythe approved the total of $668,441 for the projects in spring 2024 for the city to launch 12 projects this year, and Reith-Riley was also awarded $83,690 for additional paving projects that will begin following the milling and paving projects by E&B Paving.

- Walnut Avenue from Affordable Auto to Deadend
- Burlington Avenue 254 feet south of Green Street
- Morris Street from Barner Street to Green Street
- Hoke Avenue from Washington Avenue to Ohio Street
- McCarty Street from Hoke Avenue to Beard Street
- Harvard Terrace from Clay Street to Williams Road
- Crescent Drive from State Road 28/Wabash Street to Crescent Court
- Catterlin Street from Washington Avenue to East Green Street
- O’Neil Street from East Armstrong Street to East Boone Street
- Elmwood Drive from Clay Street to Deadend
- Fisher Street from Clay Street to Deadend
Reith-Riley Paving Projects:
- Frankfort TPA Park pathways
- Pratt Street from Morrison Street to Barner Street
- West Paris Street from Rossville Avenue to Myrtle Avenue
The city stated that the list does not reflect the order in which work will be completed. For updated information, community members are encouraged to visit the City of Frankfort or the Frankfort Street Department Facebook pages.
The city also announced that the department is seeking options for work on Barner Street following community complaints for the state of the road.
“We know that section needs some work,” the city released. “It is a very similar situation to what happened on 5th street with the rail lines underneath.”
