Casey Christian Scott, 60, passed away peacefully at his home in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 7, 2025, after a brief illness. Born in Wisconsin on March 21, 1964, Casey moved to rural Frankfort, Indiana with his father and mother Chris & Becky Scott, and brother Perry Scott. He attended Jefferson Elementary; Clinton Prairie High School; and Ball State University.
Casey was a ray of sunshine on even the grayest of days. As a child, his mother would wake him in the morning by saying, “Good morning, sunshine.” It was that warmth and light he shared with all of those he encountered.
Following the death of his parents, Casey was surrounded by a wonderful family of friends he created. He always said he was blessed with several mothers — his birth mother he didn’t know; his adoptive mother Becky; and three mother figures who came into his life as an adult — Janet Nine, Christel DeHaan and Peggy Watanabe. This extended family he loved so much included an array of special people over his lifetime, including Ellen & Andy Greenspan; Carol & Yale Martin; Chip Mattax; Kelley Ross; Brad Gershman; Michael Ault; Linda Conti; Meagan Merrill; Jan Thomas, his lifelong friend of more than 50 years; and oh, so many more.
Casey was an incredibly creative person with an entrepreneurial spirit that drove his passions and profession. Over the years, he was a business owner and event planner, creating and implementing beautiful weddings and local and national special events.
He had an incredible sense of humor and mischievous nature that delighted (and sometimes taunted) those around him on a daily basis.
He was a connector of people and loved hosting his friends and acquaintances at holiday parties; weekly coffees, where he served as the ultimate host and master of ceremonies making sure everyone was included in the enjoyable discussions; and at more intimate dinners or simply going to the movies one-on-one or in small groups. Even running errands around town with Casey became an eventful, joyful endeavor.
Casey was a warrior, which he demonstrated in his battle with melanoma since 2010. He fought hard with grace and dignity (most of the time) and showed what fun and joy you can have … even during the most difficult of times.
