The Carroll Cougars defeated the Traders Point Christian Knights 58-33 in Tuesday’s Sectional 54 opener.
Carroll forced double-digit turnovers in the first half and held a 17-point advantage by halftime.

“It feels good to get a game under our belt,” Carroll coach Adam Tussinger said. “We have a lot of young guys still, a lot of freshmen and sophomores, and even our juniors haven’t really played in a Sectional atmosphere or game. That was probably the biggest takeaway for me. At times, I don’t feel like we did a whole lot well on the offensive end, but that’s part of the learning process.”
It was the experienced seniors who led the way for the Cougars. Carson Hale delivered 12 points in the first half and finished with a game-high 19. Aiden Duff added 12 points and seven assists in the win.
Cougar junior Mason Skinner had a strong game inside, contributing 17 points.
Carroll held a double-digit advantage from the first quarter on and continued to push the pace, winning 58-33.
The Cougars advance to the Sectional 54 semi-final game against No. 10 Rossville on Friday at 6:00 p.m.
