Boone County Vehicle, Bicycle Accident Results In Non-Life-Threatening Injuries

A vehicle and bicycle accident in Boone County sparked an investigation by the Fatal Alcohol Crash Team to determine the cause of the accident.

On Monday, June 24 at 5 p.m., Boone County Sheriff’s Office deputies were reportedly dispatched to a motor vehicle accident with injury that involved a bicyclist in the area of State Road 32 and County Road 1200 East.

Deputies reported that upon arrival to the area, the bicyclist, who was identified as John Girrod of Zionsville, was on the side of the roadway while his bicycle was within the roadway. A motor vehicle driven by Thomas Carr of Sheridan that deputies reported was involved in the accident was parked on the side of the roadway.

Deputies preliminarily stated that Girrod appeared to have sustained injuries to his neck and back, and he was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, and Carr did not appear to sustain injuries.

The Boone County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Alcohol Crash Team was requested by deputies for assistance, authorities report, and the incident remains under investigation.
