The Boone County Sheriff’s Office is seeking additional information from the public following a hit and run incident that occurred on May 30.
The Sheriff’s Office requested additional information from the community regarding an incident that occurred on May 30 in the area of County Road 1100 East south of State Road 32 when a bicyclist was reportedly struck by a motor vehicle from behind while traveling southbound on County Road 1100 East.
The Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division was reportedly notified of the incident on June 4 after the initial report was filed in Hamilton County.
The Sheriff’s Office stated that investigators have attempted to gather information on the suspect and the vehicle, and all leads have been exhausted, sparking the department’s need to contact the public for assistance in locating the suspect and the vehicle that struck and injured the bicyclist.
According to reports, the bicyclist was hit from behind and was unconscious for a period of time, and the bicyclist is recovering from the serious injuries that consisted of broken bones and bruising.
The department stated that the known information currently regarding the incident is that the incident occurred on May 30 around 5:15 p.m. on County Road 1100 East south of State Road 32, and another bicyclist traveling north on County Road 1100 East stopped to aid the bicyclist that was struck. According to the other bicyclist, a black motor vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed southbound in the area.
The Boone County Sheriff’s Office requested for the public to contact the department with any knowledge regarding the event, and the department is seeking any surveillance video in the area for the date and timeframe. All information that might lead to the identification of the suspect and vehicle is encouraged.
