James (Bud) McQuade is returning to a job he knows quite a bit about.
McQuade, who was most recently chairman of the now dissolved Historic Preservation Committee, was named as the city’s new building inspector at the Board of Works meeting Monday night where he will be in charge of all enforcement of city historic standards and city building ordinances. He assumes his new role October 2.
McQuade previously served as building inspector of Frankfort when Don Stock was mayor back in the early 2000s. Stock was given a new title as the Director of Planning and Housing Initiatives.
McQuade said his job is a little different this time around from before.
“My initial time back in 2000 whatever it was 2-3, or 4, I did everything,” said McQuade. “From property maintenance to building to everything. Now, I’m more defined.”
McQuade added, “My main concern is to go out and make sure things are being built appropriately and help safeguard residences so that they are taken care of adequately.”
Mayor Judy Sheets said she was excited about McQuade’s new role.
“I think he’s going to bring a lot to the table,” said Sheets. “He comes in with a lot of experience and as most people know he served before as a building inspector for the City of Frankfort. He’s leaving a job where he’s been project managers. He was the project manager for the Washington Street project here in Frankfort.”
McQuade summed up the situation this way.
“With this and working with Don and trying to work towards the better mint of our community, that’s the only thing I’m interested in,” said McQuade,
