In celebration of Indiana Archaeology Month, the Clinton County Genealogical Society will welcome Dr. Christopher Moore to the Frankfort Community Public Library on Tuesday, Sept. 22, at 5:30 p.m.
Moore will discuss recent archaeological investigations in Clinton and Carroll counties during the free public presentation.
As part of the program, Moore will summarize the results of recent University of Indianapolis archaeological surveys conducted in Clinton County. He will also discuss what additional archaeological work, including excavation, could reveal about the sites, drawing on similar research his team has conducted in Carroll County.
Moore is a professor of anthropology at the University of Indianapolis. He earned his doctorate in anthropology from the University of Kentucky, where he studied the organization and production of stone and bone tool technologies of the Kentucky Green River Archaic.
His research has also included archaeology in the Ohio River Valley, Spanish Mission-period archaeology, Contact Period ceramics in coastal Georgia, and the development of early historic communities and agro-industrial settlements in Indiana.
The program is free and open to the public and will be held in the lower-level meeting room at the Frankfort Community Public Library.
