Alarms Will Sound Tomorrow At 10:15 a.m. For Severe Weather Preparedness Week Tests

The week of March 11 is Severe Weather Preparedness Week, and counties will join the National Weather Service in testing the Tuesday, March 12 test of the communications systems at 10:15 a.m.

The alert will only be a test to check the systems as the threat of severe weather increases during the spring season. Dispatch and law enforcement agencies stressed that the testing of the sirens will only be a test and not a real emergency.

“As we step into Severe Weather Preparedness Week, it’s crucial to remind ourselves and our loved ones about the importance of being prepared for unpredictable weather conditions,” Boone County Sheriff’s Office released. “Whether it’s thunderstorms, tornadoes or flash floods, nature’s fury can strike when we least expect it.”

Community memebrs are encouraged to take steps to review and update their family emergency plan, check and restock emergency supply kits, sign up for local weather alerts and warnings and educate themselves and community on severe weather safety.

In the event of severe waether on Tuesday, the drill will be postponed until Wednesday, March 13.
