FEMA Revisting Clinton County

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is offering low-interest, federal disaster loans to Clinton County small businesses, non-profit organizations, homeowners, and renters in Indiana for the Presidential disaster declaration due to the Severe Storms, Straight-Line and Tornadoes occurred from March 31 through April 1, 2023

The filing deadline to apply for physical property damage (businesses, homeowners, and renters) is June 14, 2023. The deadline to apply for economic injury applications (businesses and non-profits) is January 15, 2024.

To be considered for all forms of disaster assistance, all applicants should register online at DisasterAssistance.gov or download the FEMA mobile app. If online or mobile access is unavailable, applicants should call the FEMA toll-free helpline at 800-621-3362. Those who use 711-Relay or Video Relay Services should call 800-621-3362.

All businesses and most homeowners and renters will be referred to SBA for consideration for a loan.  For those homeowners and renters referred to SBA, some FEMA grants are dependent on the outcome of the SBA application. So, it is important for everyone to apply, even if they do not want or cannot afford a loan.  There is no cost to apply, and applicants are not obligated to accept a loan if one is offered.

Business owners can apply for Physical and/or Economic Injury Disaster (EIDL) Loans. The interest rates begin at 4.00% for businesses. The interest rate for private non-profit organizations is 2.375%. SBA offers loans with long-term repayments in order to keep payments affordable, up to a maximum of 30 years and are available to entities without the financial ability to offset the adverse impact without hardship. Business owners and residents may apply online via SBA’s secure website at https://disasterloanassistance.sba.gov/ela/s/, and should apply under SBA declaration # 17881.

Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at (800) 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov  for more information on SBA disaster assistance. Individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing may call (800) 877-8339.
