A collaborative effort between Clinton Central Junior-Senior High School and United Way for Clinton County is helping expand access to food assistance throughout the community with the installation of five new Little Free Pantries across Clinton County.
Last week, Clinton Central students and staff joined United Way staff to install the pantries, which were originally built during the school’s December community service day. The project combines student leadership, community partnership, and volunteer service to address food insecurity and provide year-round access to essential food items for local residents.
The five Little Free Pantries are located at:
- Rossville Public Library
- Mulberry Police Station
- Colfax-Perry Township Library
- Kirklin Christian Church
- Forest Public Park
The pantries will be regularly stocked and monitored by a student committee from Clinton Central in partnership with United Way for Clinton County. Organizers hope the initiative will offer a convenient and accessible resource for individuals and families experiencing food insecurity while reducing barriers to obtaining nutritious food.
“We are grateful for the collaboration between Clinton Central, United Way, and our local partners,” said Clinton Central teacher Austin Faulkner. “The Little Free Pantries provide a practical, compassionate way to support families during difficult times, and student leadership ensures the project remains active and responsive to community needs.”
United Way for Clinton County Assistant Director Kori Faulkner said the project reflects the power of community partnerships working toward a common goal.
“This initiative embodies community teamwork and practical aid,” Faulkner said. “By maintaining the pantries and keeping them stocked, we can make a meaningful difference for families in Clinton County.”
Community members are encouraged to support the effort by donating non-perishable food items to any of the pantry locations. Through continued collaboration and volunteer involvement, organizers hope the pantries will serve as a lasting resource for residents in need throughout Clinton County.
