Frankfort High School Students Showcase Musical Excellence at ISSMA Solo and Ensemble

Article Prepared by Dr. Matt Rhoda, Superintendent, Community Schools of Frankfort

ISSMA Solo and Ensemble provides choir, band, and orchestra students the opportunity to perform either as soloists or in small ensembles for trained adjudicators. Students prepare and perform a selected piece of music and receive professional feedback along with a performance rating. The event emphasizes musical growth, discipline, and performance excellence.
Participants are evaluated using a standardized rating system that includes Gold, Silver, and Bronze designations. Students who perform a high-difficulty selection and earn a Gold rating at the district level are eligible to advance to the ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble competition, an achievement that reflects a high level of musicianship and preparation.
ISSMA events are widely recognized across Indiana schools and serve as a benchmark for musical excellence. Students who advance to the state level represent their school and community while competing alongside top young musicians from across the state.

Frankfort High School (FHS) and Frankfort Middle School (FMS) will be sending a large contingency to the ISSMA State Solo and Ensemble.
