The Rossville Consolidated School District Board of Education met on Tuesday, September 2, to address a full agenda that included a public hearing, staff appointments, and policy updates.

A required hearing on the district’s collective bargaining agreement gave the public a chance to comment on teacher compensation before formal talks begin with the Rossville Classroom Teachers Association.

In personnel matters, the board accepted the resignation of Junior Class Sponsor Tracy Fife and approved several new appointments. Officer Joshua Danner, a trained school resource officer with prior service in Frankfort, was named to the district police force. New extracurricular sponsors include Kelsey Hall (Junior Class), Amy Goris (Hornet Little Hoosiers), and Kim Zink (RES Robotics). Christina Griffin was added as a 6th-grade volleyball volunteer coach, and multiple volunteers were approved for the FFA program.

Policy updates included annual adoption of the Student Residence Verification and revisions to sections covering board officers, student wellness, virtual education, and test security, among others.

Financial business saw the board narrow the use of gift card purchases to students only and accept a $200 donation from Skiles AG Transport for the Class of 2026. Annual state-required financial and extracurricular reports were confirmed as filed before the deadline.

Finally, Superintendent Dr. James Hanna and three other administrators were designated as official contacts under a new agreement with Clinton County EMS for response to school bus accidents.

The meeting closed with reports on field trips and conference requests before adjournment.
