The Rossville Consolidated School District Board of Education convened Tuesday evening for its first meeting of the new year where the board held the annual election of officers and discussed organizational matters, personnel decisions and other business items that are expected to enhance the educational experience of Rossville students.
During the meeting, the board elected officers for 2025, including President Joe Hufford, Vice President Nathan Root and Secretary Nathan McCullough. Appointments were also made for other roles, including the Indiana School Boards Association Delegate, Athletic Council Representative and Scholarship Committee Representative.
The board approved the appointment of other key personnel, including Treasurer Mandi Pennington, Deputy Treasurer Cara Cornell and HIPAA Privacy Officer Jim Hanna. Several personnel changes were approved as well, including the resignations of teacher Timothy Herston, girls’ tennis coach Jessica Cox and physical therapist Amanda Parton. New hires included Craig Remaly and William Olnick for secondary teaching positions. The board also approved Michael Frasure as a physical therapist and Mark Harris as a substitute custodian.
The Board approved stipends for three teachers, including Mr. Morrison, Mrs. Geheb, and Ms. Houser, who do not provide direct classroom instruction but were evaluated as highly effective. Each will receive $627.50 from the Education Fund.
Policy revisions and reviews included updates to the district’s Chemical Management Policy, Pest Control Policy and Cybersafety Policy. Updates to handbooks for occupational and physical therapists were also approved.
Several local organizations generously donated $3,200 to the FFA program. The Board also approved teacher stipends as part of the Early Literacy Achievement Grant.
The next scheduled Board meeting will be held on Feb. 4.
