The Indiana University Health Frankfort and White Memorial teams celebrated yesterday after both hospitals received news that their statuses as Pathway to Excellence designated facilities had been renewed.

The Pathway to Excellence is a global credential that highlights the commitment to creating a healthy work environment that empowers nurses to reflect positively on patient outcomes for hospitals across the nation.

West Central Region Magnet and Pathway to Excellence Program Director Kathy Moon commented about the designation and the meaning behind the renewals for both facilities.

“It’s important, because it gives us a playbook for nursing excellence, with the key focus on ensuring that we support a culture that focuses on a positive practice environment, which in turn will lead to all around better outcomes for staff and most importantly, our patients,” Moon said. “For nurses, it’s a signal that their patients will have good outcomes and that they will have a positive working environment.”

To earn this credential, both hospital teams underwent a thorough, multi-step process to ensure they meet the American Nurse Credentialing Center’s criteria for Pathway redesignation. The designation is valid for four years.
