The Lebanon Community School Board approved the hiring of a new head girls’ basketball coach on Tuesday night.
The board voted to approve Aaron Vaughn as the newest Lebanon High School head girls’ basketball coach for the next season. Vaughn already has an extensive resume with Lebanon schools and its basketball programs as he served as the boys’ varsity assistant coach in June 2013, June 2014 and 2016 through 2024. As well, from 2017 to 2020, Vaughn served as the head boys’ JV coach.
Vaughn has an extensive career with the sport he selected to coach as he was a walk-on player at Ball State University in 2011 and was a member of the Ball State boys’ basketball coaching staff as a student assistant.
Vaughn has also participated in assisting with the Winthrop and Xavier University basketball camps and coached for two years at Western Boone High School. Vaughn’s dedication to the sport expands beyond the high school courts as he volunteered with the St. Vincent Sports Performance NBA Draft Readiness program to showcase his knowledge and passion for coaching and the game of basketball as he views the sport as a positive impact on the lives of many students on and off the court.
Vaughn has stated that he is excited to transition from the boys’ basketball program to begin his time with the Lady Tigers and expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to continue showcasing his skills. Vaughn commented that he believes heavily in the John Wooden philosophy, which states “a good coach can change a game, but a great coach can change a life.”
Vaughn is currently a teacher at Lebanon Middle School and resides in Lebanon with his three children, twins Ainsley, 6, and Archie, 6, and Rilee, 11, as well his wife, Jordan, who is a former division one basketball player.
