Thanks to the funding awarded by the Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA), which is part of Indiana’s Opioid Settlement Funding, the ONE80 Recovery Resources for men, is going to expand to double its current size.
Founding member and Chairman of the Board at ONE80 Rich Reck gives his reaction to the facility expanding.
“It’s truly a great blessing for us to reach out and help twice as many men,” said Reck. “Being able to go from 16 beds to 32 beds was our original plan when we constructed the original facility. We made the heart of the facility with the kitchen, restrooms and laundry all based on a higher head count.”
Reck added they are going to have another 2,200 square feet of dorm room space that is going to enable them to help so many more people.
Clinton County and the City of Frankfort formed Clinton County’s Opioid Settlement Funding Committee last year and plan to pool their allocations to better support people with substance use disorders. Together, they will receive $1,083,832.23 through 2038. Healthy Communities of Clinton County Coalition, a member of the Funding Committee, is also a member of the Drug-Free Communities Coalition, which makes it eligible to receive a matching grant like the one awarded by the DMHA.
Reck said the word is getting out about the facility which has become very beneficial for the center.
“We’ve actually noticed over the last six months as the word has gotten about ONE80, throughout the state of Indiana, that we have a lot of additional detox providers that are reaching out to us to take their short term residents into long term care,” said Reck.
Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets says she is really happy with the fact that ONE80 is expanding.
“This is so important to our community,” said Sheets. “We have a great recovery community right now, and I’m so excited. Now, we’re going to have the opportunity to serve even more. With 16 beds, that’s great. It’s going to be great for our community. We have people from our community and others that come from out of town. I just think it’s great.”
Sheets said she believes a higher authority made them possible.
“I’ll be honest with you, God has placed this here for our community,” said Sheets. “And I love it that he has blessed us in this way. We’ve seen lives changed and relationships restored. That’s what this is about.”
Reck added this is a possibility coming in the future.
“There is a Phase III expansion if we feel that we can handle that size of head count,” said Reck. “Our best practice measurements with other sober living homes in rural communities, 30 beds is about the sweet spot that we’ve noticed.”
Reck said the $452,000 expansion project is fully funded and he thinks it will be ready by mid-summer.
