Eva Kor Describes How She Survived Auschwitz

Eva Kor was 10 years old when she and her family lived in Transylvania Romania in 1944.

While going to school in the early 40’s, she recalls her math classes would have story problems such as:

“If you have 5 Jews and kill two of them, how many Jews would you have left?”

In 1944, Eva’s Jewish family was told by the Hungarian police they were going to be relocated to a regional Ghetto and then placed into a “Hungarian Labor Camp”.

EVA KOR

By the time the train loaded with 100 thirsty, hungry people per car finally stopped, it was not a labor camp in Hungary. It was Auschwitz in occupied Poland.  The train occupants were forced to stand on a ‘sorting dock’ where Eva saw her mother and father for the last time.

Eva and her sister, Miriam, were saved only because they were twins and of “scientific” interest to the Germans.  Eva shares the complete story in this video recorded March 16, 2019.

Eva Kor’s four life lessons she would want everyone to know:

1) Growing up is very difficult. If you give up…nothing will happen. If you keep hammering away, your creative mind will come up with the solution.

2) Prejudice is rampant. Prejudice hurts everyone. With our wonderful minds, you can decide how to make life better, how to treat people better…always with respect and fairness.

3) Forgive your worst enemy. It will heal your soul and it will set you free. Each of us has the power to forgive and no one can take that from us.  We have the power to change the world with our thinking.

4)  Every morning when we wake up, we have the choice to think of something good…or something bad. So tomorrow morning think of one thing you can do to make the world a better place.
