10th Annual Fire & Ice Festival Kicks Off Tomorrow, Feb. 8

The 10th annual Fire and Ice Festival kicks off tomorrow, Feb. 8 in downtown Frankfort where community members can experience the wonders of ice sculpture carving and fire performances while also enjoying treats from local organizations.

The festival will kick off with sculpture carvings throughout the downtown area from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., which will be supplemented with blacksmith demonstrations at Veteran’s Park courtesy of Cutler General Store Blacksmith from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Community members seeking to warm up and enjoy sweet treats may visit the annual Coffee, Cookies and Cocoa fundraiser with COACH Kids of Clinton County at Prairie Creek Park in the event center from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The treats may be purchased on a free-will donation basis, and all proceeds with directly benefit COACH Kids.

The Circle City Fire performers will put the “fire” into the Fire and Ice Festival as they perform on the Prairie Creek Park The Farmers Bank Performance Center Stage throughout the day. Performance times include 2:30 p.m. to 3 p.m., 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

As the last torch is extinguished, the Frankfort Jaycees and Twin Fireworks will close out the festival with a fireworks show at Prairie Creek Park at 7:30 p.m.

The ice sculptures carves throughout downtown during the festival will continue to be displayed throughout the next few weeks until they melt.
