10.10 Bakery Opens In Monticello In Memory Of Two Beloved Community Members

Community members, troopers, officials and more gathered together for the grand opening of the 10.10 Bakery yesterday, Oct. 10 that was founded in honor of two White County community members who lost her life.

The bakery, located at 128 N. Main St. in Monticello cut the ribbon and opened its doors yesterday amidst adoration from the Indiana State Police. The bakery was founded by Ayanna Thompson, the daughter of Indiana State Police Trooper Stephanie Thompson and Jason Thompson, in honor of her sister Mya. The bakery found its name in memory of Mya, whose birthday was on Oct. 10 or 10/10.

In 2022, Stephanie and Mya tragically lost their lives in a fire, but the community noted that the two shared their love and made an immense impact on the Monticello and White County community that could never be forgotten, which inspired Ayanna to keep their memory alive while pursuing her passion.

“Ayanna’s dedication and passion for baking are a testament to the strength of her family and the values they’ve instilled in the community,” the ISP released. “Through 10.10 Bakery, Ayanna is keeping their memory alive, continuing to serve the community that meant so much to them. We are incredibly proud of Ayanna and all that she has accomplished.”
