CLINTON COUNTY, Ind. — The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for portions of Clinton, Carroll, Tippecanoe and Warren counties through 4 p.m. EDT today.
The warning includes southern Carroll County, Tippecanoe County, northwestern Clinton County and northeastern Warren County.
At approximately 3:08 p.m., severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from near Brookston to near Otterbein. The storms were moving east at approximately 55 mph.
60 MPH Winds and Quarter-Size Hail
The storms are capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
The National Weather Service warns that hail could damage vehicles, while strong winds may cause damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Locations impacted include Frankfort, Lafayette, West Lafayette, Rossville, Shadeland, Dayton, Battle Ground, Mulberry, Burlington, Pine Village and Purdue University.
The warning also includes Interstate 65 between mile markers 158 and 184.
Residents in the warned area should take shelter immediately. For protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a sturdy building, away from windows.
The Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect until 4 p.m. EDT.
