On June 14, 2026, at approximately 9:32a.m., the Kokomo Police Department received a report of a missing 6-year-old autistic male from the 600 Block of Elk Drive. Officers immediately responded to the area in search of the missing child.
At approximately, 9:52a.m., officers located the child in a retention pond north of Beachwalk Lane. Officers quickly recovered the child from the water and began life-saving measures. The Kokomo Fire Department, Howard County Sheriff’s Department, and Community Howard Medics also assisted in the rescue efforts and emergency response.
The child was transported to a local hospital and later transported to a hospital in Indianapolis for further treatment.
This is an ongoing investigation.
