The Delphi Police Department has announced its Vacation House Check Program that allows for community members leaving town for the holiday season or vacations to have officers check on their residence during their absence.
The department stated that once residents answer a few questions, their residence will be added to the department’s extra patrol list. As call volume allows, an officer will visit the residence and check for any suspicious activity, including vehicles that do not belong, open doors or broken windows.
The service does not carry a charge and is meant to supplement primary home security measures, such as securing doors and windows, adequate lighting, cameras and alarm systems.
