Carolyn Ann Hale Devore

Carolyn Ann Hale Devore, 89, Rossville, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 4:04 pm at Milner Community Health Care in Rossville. Carolyn was born on September 1, 1933, in Geetingsville, Indiana to Paul and Helen (Wingler) Crum. She married Joe Hale of Young America on July 23, 1954, who proceeded her in death June 24, 2002. They celebrated 48 years together. She later married James Devore on December 28, 2008, in Florida, and he survives.

Carolyn was a 1951 graduate of Rossville High School. She retired from Delco Electronics, a Division of General Motors on April 1, 1996, after 20 years of service.  She was an avid Purdue Boilermakers and Rossville Hornets fan. She was active in the Lions Club in Rossville.

Carolyn is survived by her husband of 14 1/2 years, James Devore, Rossville; daughter, Charlotte Cobb, Ozark, Alabama; son, Norman (Sheri) Hale, Kokomo, siblings; Mary Janet (Tom) Powell, Rossville; 2 granddaughters, Helen (Michael) Perry, and Angel Marie; and one great-grandson, Aidan.

In addition to her first husband Joe, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; son, Troy Hale; siblings, John Crum, Mark Crum, “Buck” Crum, and Betty Lewellen.

A funeral service will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Stout & Son Funeral Home, 200 E. Main St., Russiaville, with Pastor Kevin Albor officiating. Burial will follow in Young America Cemetery. Friends are invited with visit with the family from 11 am until the start of the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
