Katherine Piela, 80, of Mulberry, passed away peacefully, Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Mulberry Health. She was born in Lafayette on May 27, 1946, to Albert and Beverly (Everett) Bell. She married Frank S. Piela, who preceded her in passing on June 25, 2023.
Katherine was a graduate of Harry E. Wood High School, class of 1964. She worked several jobs over her years including nursing, real estate, SDI, owner of Girl Friday from 1986 to 2005, and a law firm. Katherine enjoyed reading and crocheting. She was an avid garage sale shopper a lover of antiques. She would go around town most Saturday mornings with her daughter looking for treasures. Katherine was a lover of people. She enjoyed clients coming into her shop and talking with them about their life and soak up knowledge they shared. Her genuine care and concern for people will be missed by her friends and family.
Katherine is survived by her daughter, Erika (Matt) Burris of Raleigh, North Carolina; brothers, Maynard Bell, Steve Everett, Harry Rogers, and Johnny Everett; sister, Anna Talbert; and a grandchild, MacKenzie Wantje.
Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Leatha White, Dixie Soladine, and Tanya Bracken.
