STEM education, artificial intelligence, Science of Reading practices, blended learning, and inclusive instructional strategies are among the many captivating sessions that will be featured at the 2026 Vincennes University Innovative Teaching Summit for educators on Friday, Nov. 6.
The College of Social Science, Performing Arts and Communication invites current and future teachers, administrators, and higher education faculty to the annual half-day for professional learning event at the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center. The ITS is designed around the following primary goals:
- Providing attendees with an effective and engaging learning experience.
- Helping educators build professional networks and connections.
- Sharing innovative ideas and instructional techniques.
- Energizing and encouraging teachers in their professional practice.
This year’s keynote speaker is Andrea Forcum, nationally known as “Educator Andrea.”
Forcum is an educator, speaker, and content creator recognized for supporting teachers through humor, research-based practices, and authentic conversations about the realities of today’s classrooms. Currently serving as an Assistant Professor of Teaching and Learning at Indiana State University, Forcum reaches hundreds of thousands of educators nationwide with a blend of comedic storytelling and practical classroom insights. Her work focuses on addressing key challenges facing education today, including student disengagement, the evolving role of artificial intelligence in schools, and the need for sustainable systems that support educator well-being and success.
ITS Co-Coordinator Lydia Jones said, “The Innovative Teaching Summit will drive crucial collaboration among educators while delivering practical, actionable strategies that participants can immediately implement in their classrooms and schools.”
Established in 2017 in memory of Dr. Phillip M. Summers, the summit honors his commitment to educational innovation and equitable learning opportunities for underserved student populations. Since its founding, the event has served as a collaborative space for educators at all levels to connect, share ideas, and engage in meaningful professional growth.
