CENTRAL INDIANA — A Flood Watch has been extended across much of central Indiana through 12 a.m. Thursday, with additional rounds of thunderstorms capable of producing flash flooding.
The watch includes Clinton, Carroll, Boone, Howard, Tipton, Hamilton, Tippecanoe, Montgomery, Madison, Marion, Hendricks, Johnson, Morgan, Shelby, Rush and surrounding counties.
The National Weather Service says excessive rainfall could result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying or flood-prone locations.
Heavy Rain and More Storms Possible
Multiple rounds of thunderstorms may move across the area, with isolated rainfall totals of 2 to 4 inches possible.
Repeated storms over the same locations could lead to rapidly developing localized flooding, especially in areas that have already received significant rainfall.
Residents should continue monitoring weather conditions and be prepared to move to higher ground if flooding develops.
Motorists are reminded to never drive through flooded roadways. Turn around and find an alternate route if water covers the road.
The Flood Watch remains in effect through 12 a.m. Thursday.
