Bonnie Jo Simpson, 86, of Frankfort, passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at IU Health Hospital in Frankfort. She was born on October 19, 1939, in Frankfort, Indiana, to Woodrow D. and Gladys I. (Vail) Haynes. Bonnie married Arthur E. Simpson Sr on July 7, 1956. Together, they spent 60 wonderful years and welcomed three children. Bonnie attended Frankfort High School, later working at St Vincent Frankfort Hospital for 21 years. In her free time, Bonnie enjoyed reading, doing word searches, and talking to people.
Bonnie is survived by her son: Arthur (Carolyn) Simpson Jr of Frankfort; brothers: Paul (Judy) Haynes of Frankfort and Jim Haynes of Frankfort; sister: Sarah Pullen of Kokomo; grandchildren: Ryan (Melissa) Simpson, Brooke (Mike) Sears, Derek (fiancee Annie) Simpson, Desiree (James) Vincent, and Natasha Lucus; and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband, Bonnie was preceded in passing by her parents; children: James “Jim” Simpson and Darla Haynes; brothers: Woodie Haynes and an infant brother; and sisters: Betty McBee and Barbara Murphy.
A visitation will be held from 4pm to 7pm on August 7th, 2026 at Day and Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. A service will take place the following day, August 8th, 2026, at 3pm at the funeral home.
