Mary “Janie” Jane Emens, 88, of Frankfort, passed away on May 26, 2026, at Eagle Point Senior Living in Appleton, Wisconsin.
Born on June 3, 1937, in Frankfort, Indiana, Janie was the daughter of Calvin and Thelma (Miller) Lashbrook. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1955. On September 2, 1956, she married the love of her life, Benson Emens, in Mason. Together they built a life centered around family, hard work, and community. Benson preceded her in death on March 20, 2022.
Janie worked as a bookkeeper for Green Acres Fertilizer Plant, a business owned and operated by her husband. She took pride in helping support the family business through many years of dedicated work.
A faithful and devoted member of Eastern Star for over four decades, Janie valued fellowship, service, and the lifelong friendships she made through the organization.
Surviving are her son, David (Ming) Emens; son-in-law, Dennis Leckrone; grandchildren, Adrian (Monalisa) Emens, Amie (Alan) Conley, Neal (Kasey) Leckrone, and Brooke (Riley) Eller; along with 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Benson Emens; daughter, Leisha Leckrone; sisters, Maxine (Elden) Braden and Vera (Frank) Minth; and brothers, Donald Lashbrook and Bill Lashbrook.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Day & Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Greenlawn Cemetery. Pastor Shan Sheridan is officiating. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
