Lynn R. (Ogden) Whitlock

Lynn R. (Ogden) Whitlock, age 78, of Colburn, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2026 at her home. She was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on June 11, 1947 to Raymond Ogden and Claira (Hagberg) Betts. Lynn married John A. Whitlock on January 25, 1965 and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2024.

She attended Jefferson High School and went on to work in the childcare industry. Lynn was a feisty lady with a big personality who left a lasting impression on everyone she met. She shared nearly 60 memorable years of marriage with her beloved husband, John, before his passing. Lynn loved children—her own and all the others she surrounded herself with over the years. She also found great joy in cooking and baking, and holidays will never be the same without her pies. Animals and gardening were among her greatest passions. She was a longtime member of Sheltie Rescue of Central Indiana, where she fostered many dogs until they found their forever homes, though Lynn was notorious for her “foster fails.” She was also a proud member of the Daylily Society and started her own business selling daylilies, which she lovingly maintained until she and John were no longer able to do so. Her and John took great pleasure in maintaining their backyard, even getting it registered as a Certified Wildlife Habitat.

Lynn is survived by her children, John Allen (Romalyn) Whitlock; Jeanette Van Auken, Adrian Critten (Elaine) Whitlock, and Katie (Chris) Whitsitt; grandchildren, Paul Isaiah (Kylie) VanAuken, Danielle (Dennis) Dutcher, Philip (Amber) Whitlock, Stephen (Rachel) Whitlock, Jennifer Whitlock, Johnna Whitlock, Judy Whitlock, Zackary Whitsitt, and Lily Whitsitt; Great-Grandchildren, Karlin and Khole VanAuken and Analie, Stormie, and Evelyn Whitlock; and sisters, Shari Singer, Vicki (Wayne) McIntosh, and Verna Waples.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and sisters, Janice Hostetler and Peggy Ket.

Visitation will be held February 14th, 2026 from 10am until the time of the service at 11am at Day & Genda Funeral Home- Mulberry Chapel with pastor Nord Zootman officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date. Memorial Contributions in Lynn’s honor can be made out to The Midwest Border Collie Rescue. Messages of condolence may be left at dayandgenda.com.
