As of October 14, 2025, twenty Indiana counties have issued burn bans due to ongoing dry weather conditions and an increased risk of fire.
According to the Indiana Department of Homeland Security, the following counties are currently under countywide burn bans:
Benton County
Carroll County
Cass County
Clinton County
Dearborn County
Fountain County
Franklin County
Fulton County
Jasper County
Jay County
Madison County
Miami County
Newton County
Parke County
Pulaski County
Vermillion County
Vigo County
Wabash County
Warren County
In addition, LaPorte County has enacted a local burn ban within certain jurisdictions.
Residents in these areas are reminded that burn bans typically prohibit open burning, including campfires, brush burning, and the use of burn barrels. Always check with your county emergency management or local fire department for specific restrictions and updates.
Officials encourage everyone to use caution and help prevent accidental fires while dry conditions persist.
