Gary T. Kyle, 80, of Rossville, passed away Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Franciscan Health Lafayette East. He was born on August 26, 1944, in Fordsville, Kentucky to Thomas and Magdeline (Cooper) Kyle. He married Betty Young on March 6, 1964, in West Lafayette, and she survives.
Gary was a graduate of Lawrence Township High School in 1962. He worked for Staleys for 26 years and then Steve’s Overhead Door until he retired in 2009. He was an outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and watching Purdue Athletics. He had a quick wit and his claim to fame was being mistaken for Chuck Norris.
Along with his wife of nearly 61 years, Gary is survived by his children, David “Brad” (Rebecca) Kyle, Troy (Dawn) Kyle, and Melissa Kyle; a brother, Marvin (Cheryl) Kyle; grandchildren, Alyssa (Seth) Foley, Lindsey (Matthew) Smith, Ashley Martin, Jacob (Rebecca) Kyle, Logan Kyle, Dakota (Bailey) Fullilove, Kobe (Olivia) Kyle, Madison Price and Joshua Kyle; and great grandchildren, Sawyer, Sonner, and Sailer Foley, Zeplyn Martin, Jett Kyle, Brylynn, Brydyn, and Bryxtyn Fullilove.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson-in-law, Jake Martin.
Visitation will be held, Friday, February 28, 2025, from 12pm until the time of the funeral service at 2pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel. Pastor Dan Sager will officiate. Burial will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
