Residents Encouraged To Leave Water Dripping During Freezing Temperatures

With temperatures expected to continue below freezing tomorrow, Wednesday, Jan. 15, community members have been reminded to exercise four tips for protecting water pipes during freezing temperatures.

Community members are firstly reminded to leave their faucets dripping when temperatures dip below freezing as running water is less likely to freeze, which reduces the chances of pipes bursting as busted pipes may act as significant and costly repairs due to the water damage that may occur.

Additional tips include opening cabinet doors under sinks to allow warm air to circulate, insulating exposed pipes in unheated areas such as basements, crawl spaces and attics and keeping the thermostat at a consistent temperature.
