It was a successful day for area wrestlers on Friday in the sectional round of the first-ever IHSAA Girls Wrestling State Tournament.
The top four places at each weight class advanced to Regionals
Here are the results and which wrestlers are moving on to regionals.
Clinton Prairie, Frankfort, Rossville, and Delphi competed in the Lafayette Jefferson Sectional.
110 Class
Kadie Fearnow (Clinton Prairie) – First
Fearnow advanced in the first round via forfeit, defeated Seeger’s Emily Crawford in round two, Layonna Avila of West Lafayette in round three, and Katherine Emmerson of Delphi for the sectional championship.
Katherine Emmerson (Delphi) – Second
Emerson received a first-round bye, then defeated Clara Wamsley of Tri-County in round two and Guiselle Doroteo of West Lafayette in round three before falling to Fearnow.
Jocelyn Cruz-Rojas (Frankfort) – Fifth
Cruz-Rojas advanced via forfeit in round one before falling to Doroteo in round two. She defeated Wamsley of Tri-County, fell to Avila of West Lafayette, and then defeated Doroteo in the fifth-place match.
115 Class
Marissa “Mimi” Nicolas (Rossville) – First
Nicolas swept through the 115 class by defeating Alison Mejia of Frankfort in round two, Adalaya Valencia of Seeger in round three, and an impressive pin in 15 seconds over Lafayette Central Catholic’s Addy Andrews.
Alison Mejia (Frankfort)
Mejia fell to Nicolas in round two and Alania Marks of Lafayette Jefferson in the consolation bracket.
120 Class
Nicole Mendoza (Frankfort)
Mendoza defeated Isabella Gentry of Lafayette Jefferson in round one before falling to Aaliyah McLean of McCutcheon in round two.
130 Class
Brooklyn Bates (Clinton Prairie) – Third
Bates advanced via forfeit in round one before defeating Maria Mandujano-Cruz of Frankfort in round two. Bates fell to Campbell Wallace of West Lafayette in round two before defeating Delphi’s Tania Vasquez and Sophie Magallanes of Frontier to take third.
Tania Vazquez (Delphi) – Fifth
Vazquez fell in the second round after advancing via forfeit in the first. She defeated Kenadie Hopkins of Benton Central before losing to Bates and finally defeating Mandujano-Cruz to take fifth.
Maria Mandujano-Cruz (Frankfort)
Mandujano Cruz advanced via a first-round bye before falling to Bates in round two. She defeated Tri-County’s Jayden Martin before falling to Magallanes and Vasquez.
135 Class
Shelby Luper (Clinton Prairie) – First
Luper defeated Riley Hall of Frontier in round one, Alayna Zweck of Tri-County in round two, Evelyn Fahler of Harrison in round three, and Delphi’s Taylor Martin in an exciting championship match.
Taylor Martin (Delphi) – Second
Martin advanced via forfeit in round one, defeated Ella Shields of Lafayette Jefferson in round two and Isabel Sayre of Benton Central in round three before falling to Luper.
140 Class
Mariska Gorman (Clinton Prairie) – Third
Gorman advanced via forfeit in round one and defeated Isabel Aldridge of Attica in round two. After falling in her third-round match, she defeated Michaela Crisp of Seeger and Rebecca Kelly of Delphi to take third.
Rebecca Kelly (Delphi) – Fourth
Kelly advanced via forfeit in round one and defeated Ava Gustin of Faith Christian in the second. She lost her third-round match and then defeated Julie Valdes of Frankfort before falling to Gorman.
Julie Valdes (Frankfort)
Valdes advanced via a forfeit in round one and fell in round two Hadleigh Row of Harrison, she defeated Attica’s Aldridge and fell to Kelly and Crisp in the consolation bracket.
145 Class
Aries Day (Clinton Prairie) – First
Day advanced on a forfeit in the first round before sweeping through Carissa Pierce of Faith Christain, Emily Greene of Seeger, and Mayh Adams of Twin Lakes to win the championship.
Annabell Grimes (Delphi) – Third
Grimes moved on to the second via a forfeit and defeated Neveah Inman of Tri-County in round two. She fell to Adams before defeating Ashely Perez-Ahuatl of Lafayette Jefferson and Emma Birge of Frankfort to take third place.
Emma Birge (Frankfort) – Fourth
Birge fell to Adams in round two before defeating Inman and Greene to advance to the third-place match and falling to Grimes.
155 Class
Danielle Briseno (Delphi) – Second
Briseno advanced on a forfeit and then defeated Victoria Kinsey of Harrison and Isabelle Wilkinson of Attica before falling in the championship match to Twin Lakes’ Jaelyn Guthrie.
170 Class
Jaidyn McQuinn-Griffey (Delphi) – Third
She advanced on a forfeit in round one before defeating Maliyah Vitone of Lafayette Jefferson in round two. After falling in round three, McQuinn-Griffey defeated Miranda Lopez of Frankfort and Paige Rogers of Twin Lakes.
Miranda Lopez (Frankfort)
Lopez lost to Jentry Sargent in round two, defeated Norra Brownfield of Faith Christian, and then lost to McQuinn-Griffey and Vitone.
190 Class
Jordyn Garcia (Frankfort) – Fourth
Garcia fell to Hailey Krug of Tri-County in round two and then defeated Hope Borst of Attica and Alexis Lamson of Frontier before falling in the third-place match to Krug.
Kayda Peterson (Delphi)
Peterson advanced via forfeit in round one before falling to Mackenzie Conklin and Judy Ruth Whitlock.
235 Class
Karmen Mcilrath (Delphi) – Third
Mcilrath advanced on a bye before defeating Danielle Rogel of Lafayette Jefferson in round two. After falling in the third round, Mcilrath defeated Rowan Drake of Benton Central and Dorothy Provo of Tri-County to claim third place.
Delphi finished second overall in team standing behind Lafayette Jefferson
Lebanon and Western Boone traveled to Crawfordsville for sectional action.
100 Class
Cayleigh Krehely (Lebanon) – Third
Krehely fell in round three after advancing via a forfeit. She defeated Tenara Jones and Sofia Mangus to take third place.

Chloe Heinold (Lebanon) – Third
Heinold fell in round two before sweeping through the bottom bracket over Ryleigh Hampton of Sheridan and Charlie Hall of Greencastle to take third.
125 Class
Kristin McCormick (Western Boone) – Second
McCormick defeated Mackenzie Gillogly of Parke Heritage in round two and Jayden Larkin of Fountain Central in round three before falling in the championship round to Silas Graf of Northview.
135 Class
Aliva Nicolaou (Lebanon) – First
Nicolaou defeated Lilah Brown of Parke Heritage in round two, Makenna Hutson of North Montgomery in round three and Andrianna Hamersley of Sheridan in the championship.
Kenzlei Matthews (Western Boone)
Matthews defeated Ireland Nickle of South Vermillion in round two before falling to Hammersley. Matthews lost to Makenna Chaney and fell in the fifth place match to Nickle.
140 Class
Makayla Rosenbaum (Lebanon) – Second
Rosenbaum Advanced on forfeits before matching up with Western Boone’s Alyx McCormick to advance to the Scetional Championship. She fell to Fountain Central’s Ruby Deel in the championship match.
Alyx McCormick (Western Boone) – Third
After falling to Rosenbaum, McCormick defeated Liewell Hampton of of Terre Haute North Vigo to claim third.
155 Class
Cora Summer (Western Boone) – Fourth
Summer defated Noah Killinger in the second round before falling to Rosi Travioli of South Vermillion in round three. In the lower bracket, Summer defeeated Crawfordsville’s Brittany Crew and fell in the third-place match to Kayla Anders of Riverton Parke.
170 Class
Claira Gramlin (Lebanon) – First
Gramlin revceived a first round bye and went on to defeat Ardyn Magee of South Vermillion, Rylie Walker of Terre Haute North Vigo, and Julia Shea of North Montgomery in the sectional championship.
190 Class
Elizabeth Runshie (Lebanon)
Runshie defeated Gracie Means of Greencastle in the lower bracket after falling in her second round match. She fell in the fifth place match to Emma Cales of Covington.
