Frankfort Hot Dogs Volleyball Teams Kick Off Conference Play With Sweeps Of Southmont

The Hot Dogs Varsity and JV volleyball teams showcased their skills in a showdown with Southmont on Thursday as the teams racked up points and padded their stats during their successful season start.

Both the JV and Varsity volleyball teams opened conference play with a sweep over Southmont, which saw Lily Rockhold pad her stats for the beginning of the season for the varsity team. Rockhold was noted for 15 kills, which led to her hitting .500 for the night, and nine digs. Jalen Smith was also highlighted with 26 assists, three kills and seven digs for the match. Ella McAtee led in serving with three aces and several long-service runs, picking up seven digs to end the night. Caroline Queen led the team defensively with 10 digs. For offense, Justine Thomas had five kills, Addy Keck had four kills and Chloe Moudy had one kill and a solo block. Morgan Harrington was also noted for an ace and three digs alongside Ashley Zheng, who was six for six from the service line with seven digs.

For JV, for the second game in a row, Grace Myers began the night with three aces, bringing the Hot Dogs to an early six-point lead. By the end of the match, Myers would secure nine aces and two kills, which was followed by Kynlee Myers with three kills and four aces and Erin Wills with three aces and two digs. Bella Vega was noted as the leader in digs with four during the match.

The teams will head to North Montgomery tomorrow, Aug. 27 to continue their conference play.
