The City of Lebanon Fire Department responded to a house fire on Ashley Drive Monday afternoon that resulted in structure damage that spread to a neighboring residence.
On June 3, just before 3 p.m., the Lebanon Fire Department reportedly received reports of a house fire at 1408 Ashley Drive in Lebanon that required a response from the Lebanon Fire Department, Center Township Fire Department and the Whitestown Fire Department alongside Boone County EMS, Lebanon Police Department and Lebanon Utilities.
The department reportedly responded to the scene where the firefighters located flames near the entryway of the residence that spread throughout the attic of the house. The occupants of the residence were not located within the structure at the time of the fire, but the firefighters were alerted to the presence of a pet pig within the residence.
The department reported that firefighter Spencer Gulley safely removed the pig from the residence before the fire was marked “under control” just before 3:30 p.m. Firefighters continued to overhaul to extinguish hot spots and search for hidden flames that may still be present within the structure, which resulted in an “all clear” call around 4:15 p.m.
Firefighters located one occupant who was not currently within the residence during the final overhaul of the fire who was transported to Witham Hospital for further treatment. No firefighters, EMS or Lebanon Police Department officers were injured on the scene, authorities report.
The Salvation Army will be launching an effort to aid the family affected by providing temporary arrangements alongside 1-800-Board-Up who was on the scene to secure the house.
The cause of the fire and the amount of loss that the blaze caused for the residence and the occupants is currently under investigation.
According to the department, the neighboring home at 1414 Ashley Dr. in Lebanon also sustained heat damage to their siding from the fire.
Responding units officially cleared the scene just at 5 p.m.
