Colfax Man Pronounced Dead After Off-Road Vehicle Accident

Indiana Conservation officers announced Tuesday that an investigation is being launched into a fatal off-road vehicle accident that occurred Monday in Colfax.

Indiana Conservation officers stated that an investigation is being launched into a crash involving Timothy Valenta, 59, of Colfax, who was found inside the crashed off-road vehicle unresponsive just before 6 p.m. on Monday in the 300 block of North Meridian Street.

Officers reported that Valenta was pronounced deceased at the scene, and two passengers sustained minor injuries from the crash.

According to authorities, the investigation is ongoing, but the investigation has shown that no helmets were in use during the time of the accident, and the department issued a statement regarding the necessity for protective gear when operating an off-road vehicle.

“Indiana Conservation Officers remind the public that ORV operators and passengers should always wear a helmet, protective riding gear and use all ORV safety restraints,” the department released.
