The Board of Works elected to table the bids they received for the Meadowbrook Subdivision Monday night.
“We opened the bids today and then we decided at one or two of the next meetings we’d accept a bid and which one,” said Frankfort Mayor Judy Sheets. “We have that time frame we can still do that and not fall behind on the schedule and the timeline we’re hoping to meet.”
Several bidders took part in the project that involved separate bids for streets and materials.
The BOW also decided to hold off on the Associates Health Center service amendment agreement. Sheets explains why.
“(City Attorney) Alicia (Albertson) said she wants to go through it,” said Sheets. “That is our clinic for our employees and they made a few changes on it. She just wants to make sure before we sign off on it. We need there might be a slight increase and it’s a one-year contract.”
Sheets is hopeful the agreement will be ready in another month..
Local officials are trying to make sure the upcoming solar eclipse celebration has a special event feeling to it.
“(City of Frankfort Community Development) Kimberly’s (Black) has been working really hard on it,” said Mayor Sheets. “We’ve heard also that some hotels are asking people to reserve more than one night. So, we’re thinking people are going to be in the community. Let’s just bring them to Frankfort and have some things going on.”
Frankfort is going to have a “solar eclipse weekend” on April 5-7 with the actual eclipse being on Monday, April 8. Events such as concerts and films are being scheduled.
